En la microfotograf\u00eda (la longitud de la flecha es de 2.2. mm), un fragmento esta completamente (2-D) despegado de un grano de cuarcita en el conglomerado del Buntsandstein. La imagen muestra tensi\u00f3n pura sin contacto alguno entre los granos vecinos (en 2-D). Obs\u00e9rvese los abultamientos centrales y las distintas fisuras abiertas bajo el suelo del cr\u00e1ter. Ambos son pruebas de esfuerzo distensivo (provocado por espalaci\u00f3n) y excluyen la disoluci\u00f3n por presi\u00f3n litost\u00e1tica y por compresi\u00f3n tect\u00f3nica, ya que adem\u00e1s no existe disoluci\u00f3n de material, remoci\u00f3n, y precipitaci\u00f3n bajo los cr\u00e1teres. La disoluci\u00f3n por presi\u00f3n da como resultado un incremento de la compactaci\u00f3n y un decrecimiento en la porosidad. Una se\u00f1al hidrotermal similar ha sido detectada en la estructura anular de impacto de Siljan (Komor et al. 1988; ver I.
